I’m a certified Sleep Sense Sleep Consultant with 35 years of childcare experience and 5 grown children of my own. I work collaboratively and in a non-judgmental way with parents to train their infants and children to sleep peacefully through the night. My goal is that with ideal sleep habits, children will have a great base for acquiring every other skill necessary to become successful adults.
During my childcare career, one of the biggest complaints from parents has always been a lack of sleep. The individual characteristics of children make each one unique, fascinating and challenging. I love working with each one to figure out how to connect in a way that supports their strengths rather than focuses on their weaknesses.
I have seen firsthand what the effects of poor sleep for children can do in their day to day lives. Without adequate rest, children find it difficult to focus on the task at hand, they find it difficult to interact appropriately with their peers and they have difficulty making great choices. In general, babies and children with poor sleep habits struggle more than their well-rested counterparts.
If your family struggles with getting enough rest, whether it’s an infant that wakes multiple times throughout the night or an older child that refuses to sleep in their own room, please know that you are not alone (though many people don’t like to talk about it). I am here to help you find the peaceful sleep that your family needs. Studies have shown that sleep problems occurring in infancy persist from 3-5 years, and it is my mission to share that it just doesn’t have to be like this!
There are so many books about sleep and parenting, and navigating through those books (and all the well-meaning advice) can be cumbersome, exhausting and confusing. This is where I can help. When you choose to work with me, I will be there with you for knowledge, support or a shoulder to cry on when things aren’t going the way we’d like. No-one knows your child better than you do. Combining that knowledge with my expertise, we can solve your child’s sleep challenges quickly and efficiently! When I think about the relationship that we’ll have, I think of the song “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers…I’ve been the parent that needed someone to lean on, and I can’t tell you how thankful I was for those people willing to prop me up when I was tired and weak.
