Hello my name is Erin Neri, I have my BA in Psychology and have worked with families and children in many different settings for many years. I am a mom to two amazing little boys who did not come pre-programmed with the skills to sleep well independently. This is what led me to become a Certified Sleep Sense™ Consultant and the founder of To The Moon and Back Sleep Consulting.
Like most first time parents we were not fully prepared for what having a new baby does to your ability to sleep. You hear about it but you can’t be fully aware of what it actually means until you’re in it. Naturally we did what most new parents do, anything and everything to try and get our little man to sleep.
Before I knew it I was the master of shhing, bouncing, singing, jiggling, and swinging, all while still rocking my buddle to sleep while he fed. Then comes the ultimate test in parenting, could I actually get him into the crib and get out of the room without him waking up? Sadly, generally, the answer was no and we ended up starting the whole process all over.
Believe me when I tell you that these shenanigans can go on for years!!
By the time my second son came along I had shed more tears about our sleep struggles than one should ever have to!! Tears of frustration, hopelessness and pure exhaustion. I really was at a loss and didn’t know how to change it…
So when he was born I was bound and determined that things would be different. But like most parents who were unable to give their first child the skills they require to sleep independently, things quickly began to fall apart with his sleep.
Before I knew it, I was doing what I knew ‘worked’. Nursing, soother, rocking cuddling, singing, bouncing, lay down gently (pray he doesn’t wake up) and sneak out (pray again he doesn’t wake up when you close the door, or your ankle cracks, or you step on that part of the floor that creaks). And then repeat in another 2 hours!
Now let me share the good news. It doesn’t have to be this way! Sleeping poorly night after night is NOT something that you have to endure just because you became a parent.
Finding the Sleep Sense™ Program truly has changed my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I now have two little boys that go to bed with zero protest or shenanigans and sleep for 12-13 hours at night, with ZERO wakeups. I tell my youngest it’s night night time and he walks over to the stairs ready to go up. I didn’t know it was possible to read your baby a story, hug and kiss them night-night, put them in their crib, walk out and close the door. Then not have to go back in until 2-3 hours later when they wake up from their nap. Who knew that was a thing??? I certainly didn’t!!!
Having the opportunity to be trained personally by Dana Obleman and gain the skills to help families get the rest they need to live the best life they can, has been priceless. My mission is to help parents all over the world teach their little moon bugs the skills they need to sleep independently through the night and nap like champs!
