My favorite memories of my mom

We’re getting ready to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, so I thought it would be fun for us to share some of our favorite “Mom Memories.”

I’ll go first, but please add yours in the ‘Comments’ section below!

Birthdays were a big deal for my Mom.Birthday Cake

Every year, she would go out of her way to make me feel like the most special girl in the world on my birthday.

She’s pay close attention to whatever I happened to be “into” that year – circus animals, figure skating, Barbie dolls – and create a VERY elaborate birthday cake based around that theme.

And I don’t mean she would go out and buy a cake shaped like a figure skate. No way.

She would bake about 10 of those round cake pans, and then start cutting up the cakes and building up a big 3D figure skate – complete with licorice laces!

And the party! Boy did she throw me AWESOME birthday parties.

Not that she spent a lot of money on them, but she would fill the whole house with decorations, and plan a whole afternoon of games (like musical chairs, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, etc.)

Plus, at the end, everyone would leave with an enviable good bag full of treats, toys and other little trinkets.

Hmmm… Come to think of it, that must be where I developed my love of throwing an excellent party!

Thanks Mom… I love you!
